A Regional Contact Office (RCO) : What is it ?

Set up in the frame of the Doris_Net project, a Regional Contact Office (RCO) is a sort of Office for satellite applications acting at regional level in order to promote the use of satellite applications on Earth Observation and raise the awareness on their potential reinforced by the GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) european program.

The RCO ensures several missions :

  • identify and inventory GMES services (primarily in the region)
  • identify users
  • conduct awareness campaigns, demonstrate the potential of satellite applications, share experiences, success stories
  • assist users in their search for services
  • promote new services developed by the region(s)
  • favour the dialogue between users and service providers
  • develop opportunities to produce new services in line with identified need

As a user :

  • to learn about the potential of satellite applications in your activities
    to publicize a new need
  • to find a service that corresponds to your needs

As a service provider :

  • to advertise a new service
  • to meet new users, potential customers

The Regional Contact Office for Midi Pyrenees and Aquitaine regions is the CETE Sud-Ouest (PCI Satellite Applications and Telecommunications, MEDDTL).

It is in relation to the Regional Contact Offices of four other European regions (Bremen, Lombardia, Azores, East Midlands) which gives it a role at both regional and interregional levels.
